Virtual schools are classes which take place on the Internet. To join a virtual class you need to get its address and go on line to its site on the net and then your computer screen shows a picture of your teacher and an introduction to the course. A virtual school allows students to take courses over the Internet without having to be present in a classroom.
Research has shown that students learning in a virtual classroom did 20% better than students who studied the same material in a regular classroom. Virtual schools are proved as successful due to their advantages. The technology makes virtual schools possible virtual schools, giving students more options for learning. Moreover, Learning in virtual schools can cost less than learning in traditional public schools. Virtual schools include less teachers, students do not use writing implement, which can cost a lot of money and they need not spend money on clothes.
However, learning in a virtual school has some disadvantages.
This form of learning prevents from teenagers the social gathering. Children spend too much time on the computer when it does not include their studies. So, instead of going out of the house, they spend much more time on the computer, when they are required to study.
I believe that studying in a virtual school is interesting and unique, but I think that this kind of learning prevents students from meeting their friends face to face and might influence negatively on the teens' social skills. In my opinion, learning in a public school is much more important and contributive.

Ms. Gilat Simon

Dear Ms. Simon,
This year students from your school have been given the opportunity to join a group of Israeli students and teachers going on a trip to Poland. I am writing because I wish to complain about the high price parents should pay for their children in order to go on the trip to Poland. This kind of trip is an important one and I think that it is very unfortunate that only students who have the means will be able to afford this sum and take part in this important trip.
First of all, as an 11th grade student, I would like to take part in this meaningful journey to concentration camps in Poland. This journey is very significant to Israelis and Jews particularly and is known as interesting for every student. But, due to the very high price, some students will not be able to participate in this trip.
Moreover, Poland is part of our important history, which can not be forgotten and we should pass it on to the new generations. This trip is very important to some students more than others, for personal reasons, but they are unable to take part in this trip because of its high price.
In my opinion, that kind of trip is a very important one and it will be unfortunate if students miss it due to its high price. I think that the price should be lowered in order to allow all the students to take part in this memorable jurney.
I look forward to a prompt reply.
Yours truly,
Avital Itzhak.
This is much better. Good work. I'm proud of you.

A summer's Reading
The main character in the story "A summer's reading" is George Stoynovich, a 20 year old young man who dropped out of school at the age of 16. George was ashamed to walk in the street, and did not talk to any of his acquaintances because he had not graduated from high school, so he could not get a job. George made me think about his character and I think that his character is a very interesting one, which develops and grows up along the story.
The writer describes George as a lazy guy, who does not have patience and does not read books at all, except for his sister's magazines. Along the story, the writer describes George's environment,in which he grew up. His mother died when he was a child, and he lives with his father and sister, Sophie. As we read the story we can understand that Sophie tries to give him her support.
In addition, the writer describes George's character as problematic. He is lazy, impatient and hopeless. He has some problems such as shames as a result of not having a formal education. George felt that people did not respect him and stayed in his room during the day time. When it got dark, he went out to a park, that was isolated from the rest of the world by an iron railing. George found in the park an escape from his life.
However, his life changed when he met Mr. Cattanzara and told him that he was reading books to improve his education. The truth, which he was always fearful that people would discover, was that he was not reading any books at all.
Finally, I would like to express my opinion and say that George goes through a growing process, which makes him understand things about his life and the way to deal with them. When Mr. Cattanzara does not tell anybody the truth about George, that he is not really reading any books, George understands that he has to justify his reputation, otherwise he could not be able to enjoy life.

Memories of a Geisha
I have recently read a novel written by Arthur Golden named "Memories of a Geisha". I really enjoyed to read this book, it is an exciting and arousing book, which made me think about life from a different point of view.
The main character in the book is Chiyo- Sayuri. The book centers around the young, nine year old girl, Chiyo, who lives in a poor fishing village. Chiyo and her older sister are sent to the geisha district. With her unusual blue-grey eyes, Chiyo is chosen to be trained to become a geisha but Hatsumomo, the top geisha of Mrs. Nitta, who had custody of all the geishas in the house, abuse her and makes it difficult for her because of her jealousy. Chiyo experiences some crisis due to Hatsumomo's attitude and her longing to her family.
The turning point in the book is when Chiyo meets Mr. Tanaka, a wealthy businessman, then her life changes dramatically. The knowledge that they will be together one day encourages her and helps her to improve her life.
To sum up, I would like to tell you that the book fascinated me. Therefore, I recommend the book to anyone who wants to be exposed to a different kind of life and meet a lovely and strong competition with difficults.

The Disaster Between Our Ears
Nutritionist Alice Brown says that people need to be more responsible for what they eat. In my opinion, the responsibility for producing healthier food shouldn't be conducted by food manufacturers. I think that we, as people who care for ourselves, should be responsible for what we consume. The only thing that manufacturers should be responsible for is to detail all the ingredients of the food.
First of all, the responsibility for what we consume is supposed to be only ours. The only thing that interests most of the manufacturers is the competitiveness of the sales. When they sell us some food, they don't think about the damage it will cause us in the future, only about how much they earn.
Secondly, each person should know himself and be aware of what kind of food he should consume, and what kind of products he should preferably avoid. Manufacturers shouldn't be responsible for what we choose to eat, meaning that the nutrition of each person hanging in some criterions that manufacturers don't know about us like weight, height and different health problems.
Finally, only we should be responsible for our consumption and not anyone else. We can't rely on manufacturers' advertisement and should investigate our nutrition. Only we know what we can consume and what fits us. We should worry about ourselves and be aware of what we put in our mouth.

Dear Editor,
Concerning the article "Israel wants Shalit home, but not at any cost" , I would like to express my oposition. I strongly oppose the ways that our government is trying to bring back Shalit.
In my opinion, our government has to make more efforts to to bring back our captured soldier. His family shouldn't stay quiet- the opposite, they should put pressure on the government. Our govern-ment must prove itself - not just talk.
Moreover, the government should give us confidence to recruit ourselves to the IDF, and give us the feeling that if something happens, there will be a government that bring back us home safe and sound.
In conclusion, we should do everything for our soldier that save us every day and now aren't here. Now it's our turn and chance to save him and help him come back home.
yours,
Avital.

Gilad Shalit
On June 25th, 2006 Gilad Shalit was captured by Palestinian militants, who surprise attacked an Israeli army post on the Israeli side of the southern Gaza strap border. During the morning attack, two Palestinian militant and two IDF soldiers were killed and three others wounded, aside from Shalit. 3 years passed and until now, Gilad Shalit isn't here!
In my opinion, our government has to do more efforts to return our captured soldier. His family shouldn't stay quite the opposite, they should put pressure on the government. Our government must prove itself - not just talk.
Moreover, the government should give us confidence to recruit ourselves to the IDF, and give us the feeling that if something happen- there is a government that will back us home safe and sound.
In conclusion, we should do everything for our soldier that saves us and now isn't there. Now it's our turn and chance to save him and help him come back home.

The first in entertainment
Dudu Topaz, the first in entertainment, was leaded to rest in Tel Aviv. Hundreds of mourners came to the cemetery on Friday to pay their final respects to the man once known as Israel's "ratings king."
Dudu Topaz was born in 1946. After completing his military service he went to study acting in London. His debut was in the Haifa Theater, and his first television appearance was in an educational English program on Channel 11. Dudu built a successful carrier, and at the height of his fame, Topaz was voted by viewers as the most trustworthy one, and the one most favored for the position of prime minister.
Dudu Topaz was blamed and arrested in May for attacks on TV producer Shira Margalit and Keshet CEO Avi Nir in November 2008, and talent agent Boaz Ben-Zion six months ago. He was later charged at the attacks. Due to these accusations, he hanged himself with the cord of an electric kettle in the shower stall next to his cell at around 7 A.M.
To conclude, someone like Dudu Topaz, who was looking for glory, fell from the pressure of blaming him. In my opinion, the pressure of the public caused him to kill himself-the pressure killed him.

Facebook:)
Facebook is a common site in which you can publish your pictures, exchange letters and be familiar with new people.
There are some children, teenagers and even adults that exploit this site for bad purposes and turn this common site into hate groups. I am completely against this situation and think that we should stop it anyway.
Facebook is a technology progression that people start to use it for hate groups against adults, children, ethnic groups, and even in order to transfer private information about countries by bribe. There are people who think that it is not so terrible and it's something that will disappear with the time. Among these people there are the parents of the children and teenagers that organizing these hate groups.
In my opinion, as opposed to them, it is a terrible phenomenon and we should stop it as quickly as we can. I don't think that it is something that disappears this easily and it's only a question of time, just the opposite- I believe that it won't stop if we ignore it.
To sum up, I think we should stop as quickly as we can the bad exploit in Facebooks and other common sites, before it turns a routine. Moreover, we should supervise common sites like Facebook in order to prevent from these hate groups to form.

School uniforms:)
In most of the schools, students must wear a school uniform.
Some students indeed understand the importance of it and some simply don't. What do you think?
On the one hand, the school uniform is a good idea to prevent conflict and fights between the children and their parents about clothes. Some children don't have enough money to spend on beautiful clothes and can't afford to come to school with different clothes every day. Therefore, something like a school uniform can absolutely reduce the expenses and help children not feel inferior to other kids.
On the other hand, school uniforms make everybody look the same. It could be "boring" for the students, because some children want to stand out and not be like all the others. Moreover, they want to express their uniqueness and individuality through their clothes.
To conclude, the school uniform is an important thing that we cannot give up on. We must be considerate with children that don't have enough money to spend and not to think only about ourselves and our wish to stand out.

Burge McCall:)
Mr. Burge McCall was chief clerk and made a good salary, but he was stingy with his wife. He hated her, and he hadn't liked the way she looked at him.
Mrs. McCall, his wife, was a thin tall woman, and she never had much to say- she never answered him when he called her names. That made him start hating her because he wanted to fight with her.
At the beginning of the story, the relationship between those two characters is terrible. Mr. McCall behaves to his wife terribly and is intolerant- he is stingy with her, calls her names and is even violent to her. Mrs. McCall never answered him and stays calm- , which angers him more. They really don't get along.
Later, in some phase, Mrs. McCall decide to do some move, which is the turning point that leads to the change.
She causes Mr. McCall to think that she is going to poison him with rat poison. He is afraid to eat something at home and begins to toady to her. He becomes more generous, caring, considerate and pampers her. He starts to take her to the movies and to picnics, and he speaks nicely because he is afraid of upseting her.
To conclude, Mr. and Mrs. McCall are a very strange couple. In my opinion, although in the end of the story Mrs. McCall got what she wanted, their way to solve problems is wrong and mistaken.

What do you think about homework?
Do you think your homework is necessary or just a waste of time? Do you think your homework should be restricted to the classroom and not done at home as well? Homework is an important thing in which you reinforce your weak points in some subjects.
In my opinion, homework is really a necessary component of learning. All students, in elementary school or high school or university, have to do homework to strengthen their weak points. Because as much as you do homework, you will know that subject better. I think that students can't understand everything during the lesson, even if they listen carefully. In addition, I am sure that not everybody listens 45 minutes sequentially to the teacher- so we need to prepare homework in order to understand the studied lesson clearly.
Moreover, there are 35-40 pupils in a class. In that case, the teacher cannot always teach the entire prepared lesson for different reasons like noise, delay, a big number of students etc. Therefore, the teacher should give homework- to complete what she didn't teach in class.
To conclude, I don't think students can learn better without having to prepare homework every day. Homework is an important part of our studying process that can't be given up.

Improving quality of life by damage, is it possible?
Did you ever think about space exploration? Do you encourage it or maybe you are against it? Do you think it can help us in someway or is it just unnecessary? There are people that want to reach space and they will do anything to achieve it. And what do you think? Is it worth the cost and the risk?
On the one hand, space exploration is an important thing for humanity. We can research the atmosphere's condition on Earth. Moreover, the searching for knowledge can improve our quality of life. For example, with the assistance of the researchers we can live on another planet.
On the other hand, space exploration can be a risk for humanity by damaging the surroundings. In Addition, it could be very dangerous and a big risk for the researchers themselves. Also, it is a terrible waste of money, so why not use it for other researches, which don't damage the environment.
In conclusion, space explorations has a positive side and a negative side- like everything. In my opinion, in spite of the importance of this, we can't be busy with improving our quality of life by damaging the environment and risking people around.

Dealing with Peer Pressure
You are probably wondering what peer pressure is, and how your peers can pressure you to do something you don't want to do or something against your opinion. So, your peers indeed can pressure you, even if you don't realize it, just by spending time with them or just listening to their opinion about something.
Do you want to know what is the best way to reject peer pressure? Well, it's not as difficult as it seems to you. All you have to do is to be definitive with your behavior and your decisions, and listen to your wishes- and not to those who surround you. You need to know whose advice you can get and who can cause you to do things against your opinion or even relapse.
On the one hand, your peers can have a positive influence on you, for example, by telling you about wrong things that you do and guide you before another mistake happens. On the other hand, they can make you relapse by negative influence and cause you to do things you don't want to, like trying cigarettes and drugs, or lying to your parents.
To sum up, peer pressure can influence not only the people around you, but also you. All you have to do is arm yourself and know when to listen to your peers and when to filter out "wrong" information that you don't need. Remember, only by listening to yourself- you will keep yourself far from peer pressure.

My advice for you:)
15.1.09
Dear Ronny,
I read about your problem and I know it seems too difficult and you have a little dilemma when a new, shy student comes to school and you want to be friends with him. But your friends are a little selfish and it will hurt their Ego if they become friends with Jill.
As I understood, Jill isn't very popular because she is shy and doesn't make friends easily. You asked an advice which will help you deal with this situation and make the right decision. Actually, the answer is really quite simple. Just ask yourself what's more important- to preserve your friend's Ego or help the new student, Jill, fit in.
In my opinion, if I were you, I think I could put aside my friends and think for a moment about the new student (I would put myself in her situation). If I were Jill, I would like someone to contact me and save me from my loneliness and shyness. Moreover, I would appreciate this person and find him as a real caring person. And I truthfully believe that after all even your friends will appreciate you more for not choosing their way.
I believe that each person has chances to help people, and I think that if you care so much about other people, and that's how it seems to me, you must grab this opportunity, or you will regret it later.
Finally I hope that I did help you and you will listen to your heart and do the right decision for you.
Good luck,
Avital.

Oferet Yetzuka operation
My name is Avital and I am 15 years old student from the central area of Israel . I really don't know what to think about this war in the South.
.
Although I am not there, all the people from the of the country, and I, feel a part of the South, and sharing their sorrow. striking them- is like striking us. I am very angry that we waited for such a long time, 7 years!! For 7 years we hadn't been making any actions and gave Gaza lived their life and be exist by supply them food and electricity. Actually, we helped them kill us!
.
I am trying to imagine my home being attacked by Missiles and I can't imagine how in Shderot people have to find shelter against the Hamas Missiles in 15 seconds! The children who have just been born don't really know what a peaceful day is!
I think we had to take action a long time ago, this war should have happened 7 years ago, and if we have already started fighting, we shouldn't stop it in the middle like some people say.
I must say that I admire the army, and in that way- with a lot of confidence and wish we will win this war, because it is the only way for peace!! We should stop Hamas rocket attacks.
I wish us to continue being stronger than ever and not surrender!!
We are on the right way and I hope that all the soldiers will return back safe and sound!
